Men get oral sex way more than women, was that not obvious? If you had any doubt in your mind, then you will be pleased to hear that a recent study puts this one to bed (excuse the pun!).
The article titled “Was it good for you too?: An analysis of gender differences in oral sex practices and pleasure ratings among heterosexual Canadian university students” presents some interesting findings. It appeared in The Canadian Journal of Human Sexuality. It was commissioned by the Trojan Sexual Health Division of Church & Dwight Canada in collaboration with the Sex Information and Education Council of Canada.
Whether both parties or just one of you indulge in oral sex, there is no getting away from the fact that it is standard fare during most sexual encounters.
So a group of Researchers at the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada, decided to take a closer look at the levels of pleasure men and women experience when giving and receiving oral sex. The wanted to understand if the levels of pleasure had anything to do with the type of relationship between the couple.
The Research was based on 899 heterosexual university students that volunteered to take part.
The Researchers behind the study opted for an online survey to gather data. The volunteer students were asked to respond based on their sexual activities in their most recent sexual encounter.
As expected oral sex was high on the agenda and over two-thirds of the students surveyed reported that their last sexual encounter included giving and/or receiving oral sex.

More Men Get Oral Sex
What was interesting was that more women (59%) than men (52%) reported giving oral sex to their partner. Yes, the gap is not massive but it does exist.
As expected then, more men than women (63% vs 44%) reported receiving oral sex.
Who Enjoys Receiving Oral Sex Most?
Why do something you don’t like? If oral sex is not your thing, then we guess most people wouldn’t take part. There are plenty of guys we know that don’t get a kick out of oral sex (maybe it’s a friction thing!).
When it comes to women receiving oral sex, on a practical level, it can help with lubrication. The simple act of going down there gives her time to “get into the zone”, so to speak.
Back to the survey and no surprises to find that most men (73%) and women (69%) reported that receiving oral sex was “very pleasurable.”
Who Enjoys Giving Oral Sex Most?
When it comes to finding out who enjoyed giving it, the survey discovered that most participants rated giving oral sex as at least “somewhat pleasurable”.
Men were significantly more likely than women to report that giving oral sex was very pleasurable (52% vs. 28%). I think this might have something to do with the sexual psychology of men, perhaps something related to submissive fantasies.
So, overall, ratings of pleasure for giving oral sex were higher for men, but no gender differences were found for overall pleasure ratings of receiving oral sex.
Does the Relationship Matter?
Regardless of gender, higher pleasure ratings were reported when giving and receiving oral sex with more committed partners compared to more casual ones.
So when it comes to delivering your oral sex on a one night stand, you might want to take this into consideration. Think about why it might be better in a committed relationship and take some steps to make her feel comfortable.
I wander if age matters. This study was carried out with students. As we all know, when you’re young your levels of experimentation and sense of pleasure are different. Perhaps this is a topic for anther Research project.
